Government Partnerships
Integrating depression treatment into existing public infrastructure.
Why We Focus on Government Partnerships
Mental health disorders are public health challenge that touches every corner of society. Durable, scalable, accessible interventions must be embedded within the public systems that communities already use and trust. For mental health care
StrongMinds helps governments integrate our depression treatment model into existing public programs and services, filling a critical mental health treatment gap in low-resource settings.
A government-led approach delivers reach and permanence. Community-based mental health care, when embedded across sectors, can grow from a single district, county, or province to a national program that endures long after our direct involvement ends.

How it Works
Partnerships typically involve a multi-year commitment to build capacity and transfer ownership, involving the following steps:
- Formal partnership
We begin by establishing a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with a government ministry or district government, aligning on shared goals, roles, and a realistic timeline. This deliberate, partnership-first approach builds the foundation for treatment that lasts. - Embedded technical support
Once an agreement is in place, StrongMinds deploys staff to train, mentor, and support government health workers as they learn to deliver IPT-G. - Integration into existing systems
Our depression treatment model is designed to fit within the public programs and services that governments already run. - Sustainability
Therapy is delivered by lay community health workers, supported by established mechanisms for rigorous training, oversight, and quality assurance, along with safe and immediate referrals for clients who need additional care. We transfer this capacity to government staff so the program can self-sustain under government ownership. - Cost-effectiveness
StrongMinds brings the systems, tools, and expertise to deliver mental health services at scale. We are data-driven and focused on keeping delivery costs low while maintaining quality.
