Welcoming Debate About Cost-efficiency and Impact
We appreciate the recent attention we have received around the cost-effectiveness of Group Interpersonal Therapy (IPT-G) from two highly respected organizations: Happier Lives Institute and GiveWell. We welcome this conversation, as it elevates the dialogue around prioritizing mental health, which is much needed. Mental health treatment is still vastly underfunded, particularly in low- and middle-income countries. We fully understand the subjective nature of weighing the benefits of different interventions, their moral importance, and their impact.
At StrongMinds, our main concern is our clients—the women we treat daily who, without our services, would have no access to effective mental healthcare. We are currently providing depression treatment in larger numbers, in more countries, and at a lower cost-per-patient than ever before. Changing lives for the better is where we are grounded and continues to be our highest priority.
